Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of pet sitting (over other pet-care options)?

  • Pets are happier and experience less stress at home in their familiar environment.
  • Diet and exercise routines are uninterrupted.
  • Travel trauma for both owner and pet is eliminated.
  • The pet's exposure to illness is minimized.

What sets you apart from the other pet service businesses?

Knowing that each animal has their own unique behavior, routine, and habits, we customize each visit to fit their needs. We tailor our services to each of our client's needs and take pride in providing individualized pet care.

Barks and Recreation also offers conveniences such as a pet sitter portal where you can track your scheduled visits, pay invoices via credit card, and receive updates during our visits.

I am interested in using Barks and Recreation Pet Services, what is my next step?

Contact us! We will set up a free meet and greet to discuss all of your needs, as well as your expectations from us. To schedule an appointment please email info@barksandrecreationpets.com.

What is the purpose of the meet and greet?

We provide a free in-your-home consultation so we have a chance to personally meet with you and your pets. We will send paperwork in advance to help guide the discussion during the consultation. If comfortable with the walker and our services we will proceed with scheduling walks for your dog with their new best friend! Additional meet and greets are possible for a small fee.

Meet and greets for Doggy Vacation take place at Christie's home so your dog can meet Dexter!

Can you provide a visit without the meet and greet?

Unfortunately, we cannot. The meet and greet is an important part of the process. We want to provide the best possible care for your pet and meeting with you before our first visit helps us to ensure the best care.

What does it mean that you are bonded and insured?

Whether you choose to use Barks and Recreation or another service, never choose a dog walker or pet sitter who is not bonded and insured. Insurance protects you from financial loss in the event that we are liable for accidents that occur while caring for your pet. We carry a liability insurance policy that covers up to one million dollars in damages. Bonding gives you peace of mind knowing that you will be reimbursed if anything is stolen from your home.

Would you share your pet sitting responsibilities with my friend, neighbor, or family while I'm away?

Unfortunately, we do not allow job sharing. We pride ourselves on the service we provide, and the high quality of care we provide your pet. **Please see more information under the Policies tab.

Will you provide visits outside your coverage area?

We do our best to serve everyone, please call Christie to discuss your needs and location. We will do our best to accommodate for a small fee.

How far in advance do I need to book overnight visits?

We try to accommodate everyone, however, we fill up quickly. The sooner the better!

Are there extra fees for holiday visits?

Holiday visits are assessed a fee of $10. These visits include pet sitting or regularly scheduled walks that fall on holidays.

Should I call or email you when I need to get in touch?

Phoning, texting and emailing are all good ways of contacting us, as we check our email and voicemail often. Please email us at info@barksandrecreationpets.com.

Is the information I give you kept private?

Yes. Barks and Recreations is committed to keeping all information we receive from our clients and staff confidential, and we will not disclose any of your personal information, including your mailing address. Barks and Recreation will only use your information as a means to take excellent care of your dog, cat and home while you are away.
